We sometimes think maybe we are just a little different from other folks because we insist on making natural homemade dog food for our pet.
Things are changing, however, because now, the more folks we talk to, the more folks we find who are doing the same thing! Why? Because they have either had an experience like ours -- or have heard about other pet owners who have! Hi there.
My name is Jaime McKittrin.
My wife, Beth, and I have, for some time, been pretty active in the natural homemade dog food community.
We have even written a bog on the subject..
Now, before you think that we are some form of "animal rights zealots" that are going to throw paint on your fur coat -- take a minute to listen to why we feel the way we do.
Today we have a 5 year old briard named Allie.
But before Allie we had Fletcher, a male of the same breed, who we dearly loved and who was our pet for more than 8 years.
On the fateful day Fletch went into cardiac arrest, we rushed him to the vet's office, where we were told that his stomach was filled with tumors.
During an extremely painful discussion with the vet, she suggested it may have very well been the result of the the toxins in the commercial pet food he ate.
Did you know that most pet commercial pet foods are filled with dangerous chemicals and other toxins? That's why, when we got Allie, we started making our own food.
We discovered that not only was it healthier for her to eat natural homemade dog food, but it was also cheaper to make than buying commercial food! Naturally, we started compiling and saving healthy dog food recipes.
We wanted to share them with our friends.
We have since discovered that a lot of folks are looking for natural dog food recipes! Now before I encourage you to start your own recipe file, please understand this -- we know our lovable flop-eared family member, Allie, is not a human.
We know she is a dog.
On the other hand, we are her whole world.
She is dependent on us to furnish her daily food and a place to live.
We, on the other hand, look to her for companionship, dedication, and a whole lot of enjoyment! I think we get the better end of the deal.
It's only fitting that we give her a healthy diet.
Every dog lover understands the obligation they take on when they become pet owners.
So why not give it a try? You will find that making natural homemade dog food is simple to do, and is very easy on the budget.
Oh, and one more thing...
When you prepare your natural recipes, have your kids help you! If your experience is like ours, it will really draw you close together as a family.
When you explain to your kids why you are feeding your dog homemade dog food, they will be eager to pitch in because they want to have a part in keeping their pet healthy.
Never forget -- it's their dog!
