Professional Dog Breeders Need Relevant Tools For the Trade

Professional purebred dog breeders come in all sizes, types, and walks of life.
And a good many of them have been stereo-typed as less than standard only because of a handful of breeders whose business is known as puppy mills.
Many get into the business thinking that they will make a quick buck never taking into thought of the actual overhead involved in the business.
They do not stop to think of the actual investment it takes to produce healthy, sound, quality pets.
All they see is the end dollar amount and they fail to see the time, energy, investment and of course the time to educate themselves in the field.
"Let nature take its course and we will reap the profits," is this common thinking that newbies think.
And this is the same train of thought taken by the puppy mill breeders.
But with puppy mills, it is taken one step farther and the health of the dogs is often jeopardized.
Puppy mills are generally mixed breeders in nature although some purebred breeders tend to breed with the same attitudes with total disregard to their dogs' safety.
But this is not to say that all mix breeders are puppy mills and some may run an actual legitimate kennel.
So what should a good breeder be concern with? It is actually not as cut and dry as every breeder has their own goals in mind.
But all breeder goals should include not only the well-being of their dogs, but their pups, their lines, and they should know what direction they are planning to head in with their line.
A good breeder will focus not only on health but will focus on improving his line.
Health checks, regular vet check-ups, regular vaccination programs, a solid feeding program and contracts for their puppy sales all play a part in a good breeding program.
But from a breeder's point of view, obtaining good supports may be harder.
Many breeders have a certain arrogance about them.
It is their way or the highway.
And all that comes with experience in their breed and the business they may have done for so many years.
And for the new breeder on the block, this can all be very intimidating.
In the days of old many records were all hand written.
Today, in the era of media, computers and technology this whole system has changed.
A click of the mouse, records can be printed off.
With specialized software, pedigrees can be generated.
With a simple word processing program, a contract can be changed, re-worded or even completely re-wrote for whatever conditional the sale has been made upon.
Several forms of software are available for a breeder to keep track of his own records.
Some are good and some are not so good.
But all are created with the idea in mind to make record keeping easier and available for the breeder and the new puppy owners on a click or two.
Most of these software programs involve a hours of entering in stock information initially.
However once set up, the end goal is a wonderful console of records that is retrievable with simple click of the mouse.
And some of these software programs are no better than the spyware that comes down on your computer.
It looks fine and dandy but there are many limitations including the blasted realization that you just downloaded another piece of useless software that didn't do everything you needed it to do.
But these programs are taking a new form today.
Recently a website released their new web-based format of kennel management software.
No longer are people required to download anything onto their computer.
No longer are computer crashes the blame for lost information.
And no longer do dog breeders need to pollute their computer with unwanted software.
This new concept is revolutionary for dog breeders and may prove its worth in gold in the next few years.
The My Breeder Plan website delivers this type of system now leaving its competition of home computer-based kennel management software behind.
And it' all available for a very competitive price.
Better yet, it is designed by breeder for breeders.
And we have heard that there are plans for it to release some upgrades to the system (yet to be announced as to what) in the near future.
The My Breeder Plan company looks forward to improving the system and incorporating new modules as time goes on.
It will be interesting as to what direction this new tool for dog breeders head in.
Now breeders have a new tool to help them legitimize their breeding program yet giving them the time to focus on what is important - their dogs.
